Omeka S to Wikidata Mapping Tool

Step 1: Input

Broad `/api/items` browsing uses one page at a time. When you apply a resource template ID, item set ID, site ID, owner ID, or a combination of those, the tool removes `page` and `per_page` from the visible URL and automatically fetches all matching pages for that scope.

Step 2: Mapping

Start by defining Label and Instance of. Label is usually the main title or name field. Instance of is usually based on the class of the Omeka S resource template. Non-linked keys can stay unlinked: only map an Omeka S field when you want to reconcile its values and send them to Wikidata.

1. Label Choose the Omeka S field that contains the title or name for the Wikidata item.

2. Instance of Confirm what kind of thing the items are, often from the resource template class.

3. Optional names Add descriptions or aliases when the imported fields contain values you want on Wikidata.

Map only the keys whose values you want to reconcile and export to Wikidata. Everything else can stay non-linked or be ignored.

Add a Wikidata property only when you need a value that is not naturally covered by the imported Omeka S fields.

Step 3: Reconciliation

Review each mapped field and decide what its values should become on Wikidata. Reconcile entity values to QIDs, confirm text and dates, and skip values that should not be exported.

Step 4: References

References tell Wikidata where a statement came from. This step detects source URLs such as Omeka item links, OCLC WorldCat links, ARK identifiers, and sameAs links, then lets you assign them to mapped properties.
